Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The annual Scenic City Soccer Day is upon us, or more correctly, Scenic City Soccer DAYS.
Emerging from the Scenic City Cup, Soccer Day is essentially a 24 hour celebration of the sport for city players at every age and skill level at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.
The proceedings kickoff with the Jamboree Games designed for the House League Programs.
The Under 10 Girls & Mixed Divisions plus the Under 12 Girls & Mixed Divisions will all have a pair of games on Friday night beginning at 6:15 pm and then return on Saturday morning for another session of games commencing at 9 am.
Following the Jamboree matches, the various Owen Sound Minor Soccer Rep teams will take to the pitch, competing in 5 different age divisions against entries from Orangeville, Cambridge, Woolwich and Fergus-Elora.
The Rep games begin at 11 am and conclude with the Under 13 Boys game against Orangeville.
Running concurrently with the final Rep Game at 3 pm, the Owen Sound Joe Tomato's-Bayshore Physio Under 21 Ladies will face the London Whitecaps in a Western League game.
The Owen Sound ladies come into the match with a record of 1-1 & 1
The final two matches of Soccer day will be Men's League games.
At 5 pm, the Owen Sound Grey Motors United will host the Polish Eagles in a Kitchener & District Soccer League game.
Grey Motors has a league record of 0 & 2 plus suffered a defeat in their Cup game last weekend.
And finally at 7 pm there's a York Region Soccer League game as the Strikers host Orillia SC.
Soccer Day, over 24 hours, or Soccer DAYS, take your pick.
The Kiwanis Soccer Complex in Owen Sound will be an active site this weekend.
