High schools in Perth and Huron County will offer students this coming September, agriculture courses on business and science.
If the Ministry of education provides grants to the Avon Maitland school board, the Additional Specialist High Skills Major programs will be available to students in Hospitality and Food Processing.
Mitchell high school will offer a one-semester bundle of programming focusing on what happens with food from farm to fork.
Students who complete the programs are eligible for grants and bursaries to attend a number of colleges and universities.
Anyone interested should enrol as soon as possible according to the school board.
Premier Kathleen Wynne wants Ottawa to give Ontario's quota-holding farmers $1.4 billion over the next 10 years as compensation for Canada closing the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
She also wants $1.26 billion for the auto sector.
Wynne made the requests in a speech recently at the Toronto Region Board of Trade.
The previous Conservative government under Steven Harper offered 4 billion dollars in compensation.
