Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is travelling to six Canadian cities to hold town hall meetings with our fine citizens.
He won’t be stopping anywhere in our listening area ... because frankly ... he doesn’t seem to give a hoot about rural Canada.
But if Trudeau did stop in your town, what might be up for discussion?
Would you offer him a sweet deal for his next family vacation at your cottage or chalet?
Would you ask him to repay you a quarter for your share in the Omar Khadr settlement?
Would you ask him for an apology for completely ignoring rural taxpayers, since he’s apologized to pretty much everyone else?
Or would you ask him for tips on the best offshore tax havens?
Instead, you might want to pose with our quasi rock star Prime Minister for a Selfie that you can share with all your friends?
Trudeau, to his credit, does engage with citizens during these town hall meetings. Unlike his predecessor, he is comfortable taking questions from audience members and absorbing some blows. But that’s to be expected from a drama teacher and boxing enthusiast.
To pretend that Trudeau really and truly cares about working Canadians is a bit rich. This is a Prime Minister whose true comfort zone is as far away from rural Canada as one can get.
