Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay was touting the value of NAFTA to about 5 thousand delegates to the American Farm Bureau Federation convention in Nashville.
The P.E.I. MP was introduced as the first Canadian agriculture minister to speak to the meeting, and he gave a keynote address Sunday that focused on the importance of the trade agreement for both Canada and the United States.

There was $47 billion worth of agricultural trade between the U.S. and Canada in 2017.
And MacAulay said any disruption of cross-border trade in produce would hurt both economies.
A blaze over the weekend destroyed a large barn in Wellesley township near Waterloo.
Officials say sixty-eight cows were rescued, but six horses, 150 pigs and a dozen chickens died in the fire.
Damage is estimated at $300,000.
No cause has been determined.
