It's been a while since I talked about the Toronto Maple Leafs. So I feel the urge to talk about the blue and white.
Nothing puts a smile on my face than seeing fans stand up and cheer after every goal. There was a game on Hockey Night in Canada where your buds put up 6 goals against the Habs in front of a national TV audience. The cheers were as loud as if was a home game at the ACC. The thing here is, the game took place in Montreal.
You see, fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs are everywhere. You don't see that kind of fan base with other NHL teams.
Just ask fans of the Ottawa Senators who live in the Nation's Capital.
As a matter of fact, you can make the argument that Toronto sports fans are everywhere whether you cheer for the Blue Jays, Raptors, even TFC. They invade arenas and stadiums in US and Canada whenever a Toronto team is there.
Toronto sports fans are often ridiculed of sitting on their hands at home. Yet on the road, it is a totally different story.
The team is off to a great start and, despite missing their star Auston Matthews for a few games, that hasn't slowed this team down a bit. The Maple Leafs have responded to the challenges and that is a credit to Mike Babcock and the coaching staff.
As long as the Leafs continue to do well, their fans will be there wherever the team is.
