Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The Owen Sound Attack open a 3 game West Division Weekend and continue what is a 4 game road sequence tonight when they face the Spitfires in Windsor.
Any league game carries a certain amount of weight, but for middle-of-the-packers like Windsor and the Attack, these games are pivotal.
The Spitfires are 4th in the Western Conference standings, 3 points up on the Attack who have played 2 less games than Windsor as both teams have passed the quarter pole.
Tonight's game also is the leadoff to significant matches ahead this weekend; the Spitfires go to Sarnia then return to meet London, while the Attack stay on the road for games at Saginaw & Flint.
And while the standings and the schedule are notable, what's more pressing for the Attack is to find their form, certainly the form I believe they're capable of playing, a form that has been exhibited very infrequently this season.
Take your pick; goaltending, defence, depth scoring, leadership, discipline- they've all been absent or exposed as liabilities over the first 18 games of the year.
Yes, there's 50 games still to play for Owen Sound, but the first 18 matches are a decent sample size and if there's not an upgrade in the short term, there won't be much hope for a long term this season.
