Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

The Ontario leg of the 6 game CIBC Canada-Russia series concludes tonight with Game 4 in the set at Sudbury.

The first game in the Ontario segment was last Thursday night in Owen Sound at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre with the Russians earning a 5-2 victory.

Owen Sound Attack forward Nick Suzuki and defenceman Markus Phillips played in the game Thursday and acquitted themselves well.

Keep in mind, the game within the game is to make a positive impression on the Hockey Canada brass to heighten the possibility of being invited to the National Junior Selection Camp next month.

Attack coach Todd Gill was part of the OHL Coaching Staff Thursday and afterwards Gill related the players competing for Ontario tonight at Sudbury need to be prepared for a tough matchup.

In the game at Owen Sound, Gill felt the Russians initiated contact, the Russians dished out more than they took, the Russians pushed forwards and won the majority of battles, fully deserving the 5-2 win.

From another standpoint, the Attack, while proud of their players, can also be proud of their operation as they handled an international game and national broadcaster smoothly which is a great sign with 2 CHL Saturday Showcase Games ahead this winter in Owen Sound.

I'm Fred Wallace
