Sharing Good Ideas

By Catherine Thompson

What do you do when you hear a good idea?

Do you file it away? Do you act on it? It doesn't have to be a big idea or a life changing idea.

But they say imitation is the best form of flattery.

One of my dearest friends did something very sweet, and unique, for me and now I'm paying it forward by doing the same thing for a couple other friends.

My friend Heather gave me a plain brown paper bag on which she wrote complimentary words about me, things she likes about me.

That's uplifting on its own, but inside were a number of packages. They were all nicely wrapped in tissue paper or wrapping paper, with little scrolls taped to the outside.

The idea was that if I was having a rough or busy day or just needed a pick me up or treat, I could reach into the bag and take out a gift.

But the rule is you can only take one at a time.

You unwrap the gift first and then read the scroll which explains the reason for the gift.

One of the gifts was pretty self explanatory. It was friendship bracelets.

But another gift was a key chain with a little compass on it. I thought this was to poke fun at my awful sense of direction. But the scroll reminded me to never loose my direction in life, but to stay on the path toward my goal. I'm paraphrasing here.

I can't tell you how much just knowing there was a little surprise waiting at home for me, made with thought and love, really added to my days and weeks.

A good idea is always worth sharing.
