Milkweed-Watch is a new, online platform to track milkweed in Canada.

Length: 1:10

Milkweed-Watch, an online platform to track milkweed in Canada, was launched recently by a team of researchers at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Ottawa.

The citizen science program will help Canadian scientists track milkweed, a plant that provides critical habitat for the endangered monarch butterfly.

Laurier researchers are asking Canadians to enter their observations of milkweed plants using the mobile friendly website milkweedwatch.ca.

Monarch butterflies, which migrate annually between Canada, the southern United States and Mexico, are an endangered species.

One of the key reasons is a decline in the availability of milkweed along their migration routes, on which the butterflies lay eggs and monarch caterpillars feed.

A U.S. court has given a poultry worker 1.9 million dollars, after he lost four fingers while working for Koch Foods in Alabama.

Leon Battle lost four fingers while doing repairs on a piece of equipment at the plant.

Safety switches that should have cut power to the machine failed to operate properly.

After the injury, Battle was told he would be fired if he hired a lawyer/

Koch Foods is one of the largest poultry processing companies in the United States with about 14,000 employees.
