Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "
Lacrosse season for the Owen Sound Senior NorthStars, by my count, is about 200 days away...at least if we're talking about the club on the floor.
Off the floor and behind the scenes, the wheels are very much in motion highlighted by their annual General Meeting and regular monthly meeting scheduled for tonight at Shorty's in Owen Sound.
The NorthStars are excited about the 2018 season based on a number of factors; not the least of which was a great showing, albeit a losing effort, in the 2017 Ontario Senior Finals where they were swept by the tiniest margin by the Six Nations Rivermen.
Along with the success on the floor was a degree of financial certainty. Unlike many other years when they scrambled to pay the expenses from the previous year, this year the Owen Sound club is looking full steam ahead.
To that end, the Senior NorthStars are looking to expand their executive member numbers. The primary need is for a treasurer plus a vice president.
Going back more than 50 years, Senior Lacrosse in Owen Sound has seen it all.
They've thrived and produced championships.
They've vanished then re-emerged to win more championships.
They're survived and now believe the parts are in place to have even more success both on the floor and as a virtual small business.
The NorthStars meeting tonight at Shorty's begins at 7:30 pm.
