Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
In the city of Owen Sound today is the first of two days of registration for Fall & Winter programs.
Registration today and again on Wednesday September 20th runs from 5:30-8 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
It's cliche, I know, but it appears there's something for everyone in the community.
The list of organizations participating are; Girls Hockey, Ringette, the Skating Club. Special Olympics, Minor Basketball, Blue Water Junior Curling, Futsal, Harmony Hockey, Roxy Theatre Youth Program, Satellites Gymnastics, Girl Guides, Scouts Canada, and two karate programs....that's a lot.
Interesting too, that this activity is out in the open as opposed to being conducted online.
There's nothing wrong with online registration in this day and age, but an open showcase allows parents to window shop and browse when selecting activities for their youngsters.
Plus if there's an inquiry or a burning question about an activity, the answer can be delivered first hand, immediately, face to face, by the convenors and coordinators of the respective programs.
An active community is a healthy community and tonight is sign up night in Owen Sound.
I'm Fred Wallace
