Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The 2017 auto racing season at Sauble Speedway hit the checkered flag more than a week ago as they concluded their season over the Labour Day Weekend.
This season was a challenging one for the track starting with a relatively late transfer of ownership in the Spring which didn't give the new operators at Sauble a great deal of lead time to get prepped.
Still, utilizing what was in place, plus keeping a keen eye and keen ear open to what their drivers and fans expected and envisioned allowed the track to meander through the Summer and move with momentum going forward.
Among the early activities for the track is to get NASCAR certification.
That process is well underway and the understanding is there will be an inspection process by NASCAR officials later this month or in early October, hopefully with a positive result.
With or without the NASCAR designation, the new ownership group at Sauble Speedway is confident with more running time heading to 2018 the race next year will be an even better experience for all involved.
