Game 1

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

The 2017 Ontario Senior Lacrosse Championship commences tonight when the Owen Sound NorthStars travel to Six Nations to meet the Rivermen in the opener of a best of 5 Final.

Game 2 in the series comes right back to Owen Sound tomorrow night when the NorthStars have home floor with a 7 pm start at the JD McArthur Arena.

While home floor does contain some advantage, the bigger question in this series, regardless of where the games are played, is ' how disciplined can the NorthStars perform ? '.

For the record, Six Nations won both head to head regular season meetings with the NorthStars, but........

In the first meeting some two months ago in Owen Sound, the NorthStars led 8-5 with 9 minutes to go and then promptly took a string of penalties that allowed the Rivermen to rally and eventually score a 9-8 overtime win.

A few weeks later at Six Nations, the Rivermen won 11-10 scoring the winning goal with less than 30 seconds to play.

So the margin then, and likely now, is not that wide between the two clubs and the difference between winning and losing the Championship for either side might be the Six Nations power play and whether it gets multiple opportunities.

Good luck to the Senior NorthStars.
