Saugeen Golf Club To Host 2018 Senior Ryder Cup

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

The local golf season did not have a spectacular Spring, so here's hoping for great conditions for the remainder of the Summer and into the Fall.

Looking ahead, looking waaaay ahead, Saugeen Golf Club at Port Elgin has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2018 Senior Ryder Cup Championship.

The Senior Ryder Cup Championship will accommodate at least 16 team entries and well over 100 players who range in age from 55 upwards.

In the past the broadcast region has been well represented at the Championship with both Saugeen and Legacy Ridge among the participants.

The Ontario Senior Ryder Cup is similar to the Ryder Cup the pros play, that is there are head to head individual matchups but those matchups are also part of a club against club scenario, so while golf remains an individual sport, under the Ryder Cup format, it's more team oriented.

The 2017 Ontario Senior Ryder Cup will be at London Highland later this Summer, but come September 14th, 2018, the event comes to Bruce County and will be hosted by Saugeen Golf Club.
