By Fred Wallace

Ontario Midget Elimination Tournament This Weekend

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

The Owen Sound Fastpitch Association is hosting the Ontario Amateur Softball Association Midget Elimination Tournament this weekend.

Play starts tomorrow afternoon at Duncan McLellan Park and runs through the weekend leading to the Championship Game Sunday afternoon.

The teams entered in the tournament are competing for the right to represent Ontario at the Under 18 Canadian Championships in O'Leary, Prince Edward Island come August.

There are 11 teams in the mix including the Shallow Lake Sting who are the host entry.

The last time the Sting hosted an event at Duncan McLellan Park was last year when they had that thrilling Sunday run of 4 straight elimination game victories as they captured the Canadian Bantam Championship.

Shallow Lake will play their first game of the Midget Tournament tomorrow night at 9 pm against Cambridge.

Tara and Chepstow are also among the teams competing.

Tara opens at 7 pm tomorrow night against Burgessville and Chepstow plays their first game at 9 pm when they face the winner of the opening game tomorrow; either Tavistock or ORSA.

The first pitch in the 20 game weekend tournament goes tomorrow at 5 pm as the OASA Midget Elimination Tournament is contested in Owen Sound.

I'm Fred Wallace
