Big Day..Special Day

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

It's a big day as Tim Hortons Camp Day is being conducted throughout our region and across the country.

Buy a Coffee, make a donation online or purchase a bracelet to help Tim Hortons help a youngster see a world of possibility.

And later tonight, settle in for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Pittsburgh Penguins lead the NHL Championship Series 1 game to none over the Nashville Predators following a very curious 5-3 victory in the opener at the PPG Paints Arena.

Curious because Nashville's PK Subban opened the scoring with a patented drive....except the goal was disallowed after video review indicated the Predators were technically offside.....are we sick of video reviews in hockey ?

Curious because Pittsburgh regrouped and put up a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period.

Curious because in shutdown playoff hockey, the Predators came back to tie the affair at 3, before Jake Guentzel  would eventually win it.

And curious because a vaunted Pittsburgh offence with so many prongs managed just 12 shots on goal in posting the win.

We'll see what transpires tonight in Pittsburgh, ironically the city in which Tim Horton played some pro hockey, first for the Hornets in the 1950's and later in the early 70's with the Penguins.

I'm Fred Wallace
