Paiva & Ambrogio Update

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

Today is an active day for a couple of my former broadcast colleagues.

First of all in Windsor tonight, Manny Paiva and Kincardine native Steve Bell are scheduled to call the Memorial Cup Semifinal game  between the St John Sea Dogs & Erie Otters.

The winner tonight advances to the Memorial Cup Final on Sunday night against the host Windsor Spitfires.

The last time I saw Manny Paiva was March 16th in Windsor, the night the Owen Sound Attack popped the Spitfires 6-1.

On that night, the attitude and optimism from Spitfire fans for the Spitfires to do something significant in the post season was negative and bleak.

.......Now, a little more than 2 months later, Windsor needs 1 more win to capture the Memorial Cup.

Meanwhile, another prominent CFOS alumni, the esteemed Tony Ambrogio, will be the guest speaker tonight at the annual Crescent Club banquet in Owen Sound.

There's a million stories for Tony to tell from his days in Owen Sound to his ongoing days in Toronto sports media and I doubt I'll be surprised by any of them- certainly not as surprised as I am to see the Spitfires in the Memorial Cup Final

I'm Fred Wallace
