Bench Talk / Off The Wire

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

The funnel to the various high school championships continues on various levels this week.

The Kiwanis Soccer Complex in Owen Sound is one of the active venues as they host the CWOSSA " A-AA " Soccer Championships tomorrow and Thursday.

From Bluewater, the St Mary's Lady Mustangs will be competing in both the Girls and the Boys competition.

Across the city, the Field Lacrosse teams from Owen Sound District have earned their spots at the OFSAA Championships.

The Lady Wolves will be at Whitby this week while the Boys teams from OSDSS will have to wait til May 31st when they venture to Brantford for the Boys Festival.

And the path to OFSAA Track & Field at Belleville continues for a number of Bluewater athletes.

At the CWOSSA Track & Field event last week at Kincardine, there were numerous Top 5 finishes for Bluewater athletes including a double gold medal performance by Madelyn Eybergen from Kincardine District who won both the Junior Girls 300 hurdles and the high jump.

Soccer, Field Lacrosse, Rugby plus Track & Field, lots of options and lots of opportunities for Bluewater athletes and sports teams.

I'm Fred Wallace
