Ice Hawks hold games at the Bayshore centre.

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

I've said many times in this space that I'm a promotional genius when it comes to organizing other people's major events.

Take the Owen Sound Ice Hawks Girls Showcase event staged annually at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.

This is a very big day for everyone in the Ice Hawks organization as they conduct a half dozen games in various age groups back to back to back at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

And make no mistake, the venue is a very significant part of the equation; BIG rink = BIG game and I hear this from the Ice Hawks and from the opposition.

So, my suggestion is switch the Showcase games from an all-day Sunday affair and transition it to an all-day Saturday affair tied in with an Attack game that night.

Sunday or Saturday, it's still going to be a BIG day for those participating.

But would it not be an even BIGGER day for the city of Owen Sound and their various merchants, including the Attack, if up to 200 girls and their parents were in the city on a Saturday rather than a Sunday ?

I'm Fred Wallace
