The Kitchener Klose Out

By Fred Wallace

Attack Look To Advance In OHL Playoffs

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by Owen Sound Springfest 55+ Games presented by LiUna 1059.

Springfest events begin Tuesday and runs through May.

Sign up today for your events at Temporary City Hall, 945 3rd Avenue East.

Game 5 of the Ontario Hockey League Western Conference Quarterfinal between the Attack and Kitchener Rangers goes tonight in Owen Sound.

The loud knocking you hear is opportunity for the Owen Sound squad to advance to the second round of the OHL Playoffs.

This is not meant to discredit the Rangers who were a respectable 77 point team during the season, but let's be honest, the Kitchener squad is battered.

Four regular defenders are out and Dylan DiPerna might need an oxygen bag after the amount of ice time he gobbled up in Game 4. If he's not somewhat fatigued, that would be a surprise.

Furthermore, there's suspicion that Greg Meireles up front is far from 100%, so in essence, Kitchener is missing a quarter of their lineup.

I don't expect Owen Sound to weep for Kitchener, anymore than I would expect Kitchener to weep for Owen Sound if the scenario were reversed.

What I do expect is Owen Sound to go full blast from the get go and get the job finished tonight.

Kitchener already has 1 win at the JD McArthur Arena in the series and a second victory tonight would send the best of 7 back to Aud for Game 6 on Sunday night.

Nobody connected to Owen Sound wants to see that.

Game time for Game 5 is 7:30 tonight at the Lum.

I'm Fred Wallace
