Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by the Owen Sound Springfest 55+ Games.
The Owen Sound Attack and Kitchener Rangers go to game 4 in their Ontario Hockey League Western Conference Quarterfinal tonight at the Aud in Kitchener.
Owen Sound leads the best of 7; 2 games to 1 in what has been an entertaining, curious and eventful series to this point. ( and not just on the ice !! )
Make no mistake, Owen Sound has been the better team throughout the series; the numbers and the visuals support it.
Owen Sound has outscored Kitchener 14-3 over 3 games, outshot them by virtually a 2-1 margin, and in terms of territory, there's no question which end the puck has been in more.
In fact, had Petrus Palmu's last second shot on Saturday night been a hair lower, maybe, just maybe, it could be 3-0 Owen Sound going to Game 4 tonight.
But it's not 3-0. This series is 2-1 Owen Sound and the best of 7 hangs in the balance making tonight's game key for both sides..
For every " what if Palmu.... " scenario, the Rangers to their credit could bring up the point blank save by Michael McNiven in first period Monday, or the Joseph Garreffa breakaway in the 2nd as moments that might have swung Game 3 and put Kitchener up 2 games to 1.
It might not be close in total goals, shots on goal or territory, but a Kitchener win at home tonight would dramatically alter the plotline.
