No Chance For Kitchener ?

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off The Wire " brought to you by Owen Sound Springfest 55+ Games, supported by Liuna 1059.

Register today at the temporary City Hall, 945 Third Avenue East.

The Ontario Hockey League Playoffs begin tonight for the Owen Sound Attack when they host the Kitchener Rangers at 7:30 at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.

Let me dazzle you with some numbers;

The Attack set a franchise record for points ( 102 ), for wins (49) and wins at home ( 27 )

They finished the year with an 8 game win streak and points in 12 straight games dating back to a Family Day loss at Mississauga.

Individually, Michael McNiven, Santino Centorame & Nick Suzuki all established franchise records and many others had banner years.

And head to head this year, Owen Sound went 7 & 1 against the Rangers.

So Kitchener has no chance, right ?

Lest we forget a year ago Owen Sound was the # 6 seed aligned against the London Knights, proclaimed to be the greatest London team ever in certain circles, and that series went 6.

Goaltending stole a win for Owen Sound, another Attack victory came in overtime and had Owen Sound been able to hold serve on home ice in that series....who knows ?

Which is exactly the point.

The Owen Sound records, the milestones, the streaks almost become meaningless effective at 7:30 tonight when the Attack face off with Kitchener in Game 1.

I'm Fred Wallace
