Mount Forest Looks For Pollock Division Crown

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

It's a special time of the hockey  season at the Junior C Level as divisional champions are being crowned or about to be crowned which leads into the Ontario Quarterfinals.

In our region, the Alliston Hornets are the first ever Carruthers Division Champions, in my view, stunning the Stayner Siskins in a 4 game sweep.

The Siskins were the regular season champions and manufactured a marvellous late season surge only to be swept aside by the Hornets who have been to the quarterfinals 9 of the last 10 years.

For most of the decade, Alliston's opponent in the quarters have been the Walkerton Hawks.

And that may once again be the case, but only if the Hawks win on back to back nights.

Tonight in Mount Forest, the Patriots host Walkerton in Game 6 of the Pollock Division Championship Final.

Mount Forest leads the best of 7; 3-2 so Walkerton is facing the proposition of winning tonight on the road and then following up with a win at home tomorrow to get to the final 8.

For the Patriots who were facing elimination night after night just 10 days ago against Mitchell, they're 1 win away from capturing the league title which would be the first for Mount Forest since 1996.

That's part of what makes this time of the year in Junior C Hockey so exciting.

I'm Fred Wallace
