Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "
What counts more, the long term or the short term ?
Tonight, the Owen Sound Attack conclude a stretch of the Ontario Hockey League season that had them playing a sequence of 6 out of 8 games on the road.
The 8th game in the segment concludes tonight when the Attack visit the Kitchener Rangers in a Midwest Division matchup
Looking at the long term, the first 7 games of this stretch, the results are very good;
Win at Hamilton, win at Kingston, win at Ottawa, win at home against Flint, BIG win at London, then shootout loss at home to Oshawa and a narrow 5-3 loss at Mississauga.
However, in the short term, Owen Sound has lost their last 2 outings, certainly haven't played to their capabilities and have been torpedoed by blunders on the power play, a unit which over the long haul has been among the best in the league.
So what carries more weight and meaning ?
Losses in their last 2 games ?
Or, picking up 11 of a possible 14 points in the 7 games to this point ?
The answer today is probably neither, but of greater importance is the performance and result at Kitchener tonight which tees up a heavyweight weekend at home against London & Erie.
