The Long Weekend

By Fred Wallace

Attack, Knights, Jr C, Senior & Curling

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "

From a local and regional standpoint, how many significant events are on the go tonight and through the weekend.

Hockey dominates the local landscape.

In the Ontario Hockey League, the Owen Sound Attack are at London to face the Knights.

The Attack are feeling good with a 5 game win streak plus a number of records and milestones either reached or approaching.

But make no mistake, all the good feelings for the Attack will get washed away if the performance isn't significantly better than it was 2 weeks ago in London when they were blanked 4-0.

In the Greater Metro Junior League, the Knights of Meaford hold their Elimination game tonight against West Nipissing.

Game time is 7:30 pm and the Knights are offering FREE Admission.

The Pollock Division Semifinal between Hanover and the Hawks opens tonight in Walkerton at 8:20 this evening.

Plus, the WOAA Senior Hockey Playoffs continue with Durham at Saugeen Shores and Milverton in Shallow Lake among the notable games tonight.

In fairness, the major events aren't limited to just hockey.

The Ontario Senior Curling Championships continue at Lindsay.

Lori Thomson of the Paisley Curling Club has 3 matches today.

And at the South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club, the OCA Colts & Trophy Qualifier is being staged.

Next month, the Meaford Curling Club will host the Ontario Colts and Trophy Championships, March 15th-19th.

Have a great weekend.

I'm Fred Wallace
