Attack Shoot For 11 on the 11th
Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Through the years I've done decently in the financial markets. Among my mantras, " The Trend is your Friend. "
Transcanada Pipelines, McDonald's, Johnson & Johnson plus TD Bank over the last 2 years have provided excellent returns primarily because the trend was pointing upwards.
Does the same thing apply for the Owen Sound Attack and their pursuit of a franchise record 11 game winning streak tonight when they host Guelph ?
I find it more than coincidental that the 3 times Owen Sound has won 10 straight OHL games have occurred around the same time of the season. Late November-early December up to Christmas or the Trade Deadline.
I also note it's more than coincidence that the opponents who ended those runs were exceptional teams; Brian Kilrea's Ottawa 67's in 1996 and the vaunted London Knights in 2005.
Plus, the two previous 10 game win streaks both ended with Owen Sound on the road
So does that guarantee the franchise record tonight against a floundering Guelph squad that has lost 5 in a row ?
While not record setting the OHL Champion Attack had a 9 game win streak in 2010 and then were stunned at Sarnia by the Sting who had lost their previous 5.
Later in 2011, the Attack won 8 in a row and blew a 3-1 lead in the final 7 minutes at Saginaw, losing in overtime to the Spirit who had lost their previous 5 games.
So on the surface, it appears the win streak for the Attack should continue tonight...but the trend from other years indicates Owen Sound should be very wary about Friday night's rematch at Guelph
Game time tonight for the Attack and Storm is 7 pm
