The Passing of Time...

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire "

Hockey is a great sport for players and fans.

So great, that it links our days and nights together almost seamlessly and makes the passage of time almost unrecognizable.

The Leafs and Red Wings alumni game was a quick reminder that Darryl Sittler is no longer captain of the Leafs.

There's a funeral today in Owen Sound for netminder Bobby Gillson.

Was it 66 years ago that Bobby Gillson backstopped the Owen Sound Mercury's to the Allan Cup Championship in a 7 game triumph over the Fort Frances Canadians, winning the deciding contest 3-1 ?

And tonight in Shallow Lake, the Crushers host the Durham Thundercats in WOAA Senior Hockey.

The evening will be highlighted by a celebration of the Crushers 10th year of operation with a spotlight on their longest serving player and executive members.

Game time is 8:30 pm.

An alumni game, the passing of Owen Sound Sports Hall of Famer and the Crushers 10th anniversary remind us that even in hockey, time does in fact march along.

I'm Fred Wallace
