Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The big game in hockey tonight is in Montreal where the 2017 World Junior Hockey Championship title will be determined at the Bell Centre.
The Canadian entry with Carter Hart now playing goal will face the United States for the Gold Medal.
Hart came on 8 minutes into the game last night as Canada rebounded for a 5-2 win over Sweden.
The Americans shaded the Russians 4-3 in a shootout...let's pray there's no shootout tonight.
And while the World Junior Hockey Championship is wrapping up in Montreal, the Knights of Meaford return from their Greater Metro Junior Hockey League Christmas Break to a significant challenge on their first night back.
The Knights will host the South Muskoka Shield tonight.
The Shield are 4th in the North with a solid record of 18-6 & 5.
The Knights, with a pre-Christmas surge, are 8th in the North, but they managed to knock off a number of teams above them in the standings in recent games.
If they pull another upset on home ice tonight, the Knights will move up one more rung on the standings and sit 7th.
A poor start may prevent Meaford from getting any higher than 7th during the regular season, but the games of late indicate they're capable of defeating anyone in the division
Game time tonight for the Knights and Shield is 7:30 at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre.
