Hi, this is Fred Wallace with Off the Wire.
The Owen Sound Attack and Barrie Colts conclude a home and home set in the Ontario Hockey League tonight when they faceoff at the Molson Centre.
This will be the 4th meeting of the year with the Attack holding a 3 & 0 advantage over the Colts.
The Attack will be looking to extend a 3 game win streak that includes a 6-1 popping of Barrie last Sunday in the opener of the home and home in Owen Sound.
By comparison, the Colts are last in the Eastern Conference standings and last in the OHL's overall standings with 2 wins in their last 10 outings.
But we don't weep for Barrie, far from it.
You might remember last year, the Colts with a terrific club went 6 & 0 head to head with Owen Sound, the first time either side has totally swept the other, with those results including some embarrassing bombings at the Bayshore.
It's also pertinent to point out that Barrie through the years has a winning record of 70-58 against the Platers and Attack
And finally, it's significant to point out that in an effort to go for it last year, Barrie finished the season with 3 overagers and ten 19 year olds which made them older by far than most OHL clubs and, by virtue of age graduation, left them with 12 new faces by my count, plus several returnees who weren't prime timers a year ago.
So while the Attack have momentum and the upper hand on Barrie at the moment, the recent past and history of the two squads favors the Colts.
