Annual Curling Event Has Major Purse

Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by your local Auto Logic- the Logical Choice.

It's a busy week.

Among the activities on the agenda are a big football game at Victoria Park, the CWOSSA Girls Basketball and Boys Volleyball Championships plus an Attack road swing.

Also on the agenda is the 35th annual Port Elgin Super Spiel which runs Friday through Sunday at the Curling Club.

The 2016 event will feature 24 rinks competing for cash prizes with the winner pocketing somewhere in the neighbourhood of $ 6,000.

Beyond the money, there's a point system in place which is part of the new road to the Brier which essentially means the winner at Port Elgin will garner significant points in terms of qualifying for something bigger down the road.

Super Spiel 35 in Port Elgin begins Friday morning at 9 am.

Day 2 on Saturday also commences at 9 am and runs for the better part of 12 hours.

Then Sunday, the Quarterfinal matches begin at 9 am followed by the semifinals and then the Championship Game at 2:30 Sunday afternoon.

It's a super busy week with Super Spiel 35 among the major local sporting attractions.

I'm Fred Wallace
