Bench Talk / Off The Wire

A Roundup

By Fred Wallace

Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.

A number of items popped up yesterday, so I'll wrap them up in one neat little package today.

Girls University Lacrosse;

Owen Sound Lady NorthStars alumni figured prominently at the Provincial Championships at Hamilton.

Kayla Hamill was a member of the Trent University team that won the gold medal.

Meanwhile, Selina Kazarian scored 3 times including the game winner in double overtime as Wilfrid Laurier edged Brock 12-11 in the Bronze Medal game

Another Lady NorthStar grad Torey Barfoot also scored for Laurier.

In College Baseball; Curtis Cobean who is in his second year at George Brown College taking carpentry engineering was selected to the first all star team this year.

Cobean was 18 for 36 at the plate this year, finishing second in league batting

What's remarkable is that Cobean and the Huskies were 1 & 19 on the season.

And quickly some curling;

There will be two Provincial Championships in our region in 2017- Meaford is hosting the Colts and Trophy Provincials March 15th-19th and the Chesley Curling Club is the host for the Ontario Timbits Championship March 23-26.

World Series starts tonight, Chicago at Cleveland

I'm Fred Wallace
