Grey-Bruce Basketball Officials Honour KDSS Grad

Length:

Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.

A couple of weeks ago, the Jordan Fawcett Memorial Scholarship was presented to Marley Martyn as part of the Kincardine District Secondary School Commencement Festivities.

The Jordan Fawcett Memorial Scholarship is an initiative of the Grey-Bruce Association of Basketball Officials and is named after Jordan Fawcett

Jordan was a Grey Highlands student in grade 11 when she passed away suddenly from an epileptic seizure in 2010.

The award can go to any student-athlete in the Bluewater board and is presented each year to one Bluewater student, female or male.

Marley Martyn is the second consecutive KDSS student to be presented with the award.

Martyn has been heavily involved in her community, most notably as the Ambassador of the Ripley Fair

A true ambassador of the sport of basketball in our region, Martyn assisted with OPG and helped coach the basketball teams at Ripley-Huron Community School.

On the court, Marley Martyn was a member of the 2014 Lady Knights basketball team that advanced to the OFSAA Championships at Cornwall.

Currently Marley Martyn is at Nippissing University studying Concurrent Education, and likely exceptionally grateful to be the recipient of the annual Jordan Fawcett Memorial Scholarship.

I'm Fred Wallace
