Six Pack For Perry

By Fred Wallace

Redeeming Factor For World Cup

Hi this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.

Canada won the World Cup of Hockey last week beating the Europeans 2 games to none in the final.

And while many may have been into it....I really wasn't. I said so from the beginning.

Sure, Team North American caught my interest for 1 game, but truthfully, that was the extent of it.

And while there's talk of the " next " World Cup for Hockey, I'm not sold it will be a universally endorsed.

Now, having said all of that, I was happy for Corey Perry, the former London Knight.

Perry has accomplished what only one other player in hockey history has; the double hat trick of team trophies.

On the resumes of Scott Niedermeyer and Corey Perry you'll find that these two, and ONLY these two, have won 6 major hockey titles; the World Junior Championship, the Memorial Cup, the Stanley Cup, the World Hockey Championship, Olympic Gold and now the World Cup of Hockey.

When you consider the window of opportunity for the World Junior, Memorial Cup and World Cup are exceptionally slim, the accomplishments for Niedermeyer and Perry are impressive.

Similar to the World Cup of Hockey, not everyone likes Corey Perry.

But to me, you've got to admit those 6 team titles for Corey Perry and Scott Niedermeyer are truly remarkable.

I'm Fred Wallace
