Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire " brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
I keep waiting for Major League Baseball to get struck out by the weatherman...or the weather lady.
The post season in Baseball post opens with the American League wild-card game on Tuesday, October 4th.
The World Series begins on Tuesday....October 25th and the potential exists that the playoffs could run through November 2nd IF the World Series goes to a 7th and deciding game.
As a means of comparison, on November 2nd, the Owen Sound Attack are hosting the Barrie Colts at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
For the Attack, that will be their 16th game of the season which virtually represents the first quarter of the OHL season.
On November 2nd, I kn ow I'll be at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre for the Attack game.
Can anyone truly project in advance that the weather will permit a World Series game 7 that night ?
And what if the game is in....Boston ? or Cleveland ? maybe Detroit ?.... All of whom conceivably could be the host team for such a game 7.
The full extension of the Major League Baseball season to November 2nd is essentially a game of " chicken " with the weatherman.
Plus, you're also running the risk that baseball's showcase event might be an afterthought for those of us going to the Attack game that night.
I'm Fred Wallace
