BAGS 2009

By Fred Wallace

The BAGS Junior Golf Tour kicked off over the weekend at Simoro Golf Links near Barrie, the first of 18 stops on the 2009 season.

Alistair Orr of the BAGS Tour relates the 2009 season is comprised of 18 different events leading to the climax Tour of Champions at the Georgian Bay Club in late August.

Thirteen of those events are stroke play affairs at a wide variety of courses around Georgian Bay.

Three more events are Match Play formats where head to head is the style of play.

And the final two competitions are team oriented where select members of the BAGS Tour will go against other Junior Tour entries from around the province.

The BAGS Tour expects a steady of field of 60 to 70 players this year, representing a wide range of playing abilities.

Yes, there are some who are highly skilled, highly competitive and will follow a golf trail to bigger events.

And there are many others in this age bracket, who are playing because they love to play.

Regardless, the BAGS event with a dozen & a half tournaments gives every player a chance to compete, a chance to learn golf and the chance to just have fun.
