I remain perplexed as to why last weekend, instead of this weekend, was the traditional May long weekend.
Certainly from a sports standpoint, this weekend has something for everyone, plus, late May has to deliver better weather than mid May.
There's Bluewater Fastball tonight at Tara and then the ISC comes to Duncan McLellan Park for the remainder of the weekend.
The Volkswagen Junior Selects, the Owen Sound Senior Selects and the Palermo Athletics have a three team doce do which is a terrific way to make maximum use of facilities and meet ISC qualification standards.
In lacrosse, both the NorthStars and the Woodsmen are at home this weekend.
The Junior B Stars host Sarnia on Saturday night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore.
The following night at the Lum, the defending Canadian Champion Woodsmen host long time rival Wellington.
And in the world of racing, Saturday there are auto cards at Varney & at Sauble and it's Hockeyville Night in harness racing at Hanover Raceway tomorrow night.
Plus, the Memorial Cup semifinal is tonight, the Cup Championship is Sunday afternoon.
It's not an official long weekend, but from a local sports standpoint, it should be.
