Call for Warden at Sauble Beach

South Bruce Peninsula | by John Divinski

Councillor wants someone to police Sauble Beach this summer.

If South Bruce Peninsula councillor Marilyn Bowman has her way, Sauble Beach will be treated as a park with a warden to police it.

Bowman, a Sauble Beach area Ward 3 representative says it's time to bring some order back to the beach during the summer.

She says they need a uniformed warden visible on the beach to stop the fires on the beach; the dogs on the beach and the tents on the beach.

Bowman says her goal is to have the warden have the powers to ticket and to fine those causing the problems on the beach.

She says she got an earful from residents during the last election campaign and she's following through.

Bowman says the issue is slated to come up on February 14th when council will discuss the concept and the costs that go with it.
