District 10 Swim Meet Today
by John Divinski
The Kincardine District Secondary School (KDSS) Knights Aquatic swimming team is ready for another season of competition. On " Soundingboard ", Aquatic coach Kelly Young says they have a full team of 15 senior swimmers and 13 junior swimmers. She says it's one of the biggest teams they've ever had. Young says there were times when they had less than 10 athletes on the squad. She says they're lucky the town has a town swimming team that provides a base for instruction so they're ready to compete at the high school level when they get there. First meet comes up today at the University of Guelph against teams from cities such as Guelph and Kitchener. Young says from there the swimmers qualify for CWOSSA in Brantford and then OFSSA in Etobicoke. The swim team this year is dedicating the season to the speedy recovery of absent team mate Josh Eaton who is dealing with cancer. Each swimmer will be sporting a temporary tattoo of his initials so that he is with them in spirit. Young says if you're going to be a member of the KDSS swimming team, there is a commitment. Practices are Monday and Wednesday mornings at 6:30am at the Davidson Centre. >>> click the audio icon for comments from Kelly Young |
