Sailor Named League Player Of Month
by Peter Jackson The Goderich Sailors have had a pretty long season in the Western Junior C Hockey League but there is cause for hope in the future. A rookie forward with the Sailors is the League's Player of the Month for January. 18 year-old Brett McGuinness has improved steadily through the season and registered 10 points in four games between January 16th and the 29th. The Stratford native has become a fixture on the Sailors' power-play which has recently showed some jump, scoring five goals and assisting on a sixth in those four games. Through 32 games to the end of January, McGuinness had 17 goals -- including one game-winner -- and eight assists for 25 points while getting just 10 minutes in penalities. McGuinness was honoured with his award prior to last night's Sailors-Walkerton game at MRC. Owen Sound , 97.9 The Beach, Port Elgin |
